The Tours and TouristsThe tours, and our fellow tour members, made the trip an experience to remember. We enjoyed both official tours given by excellent local guides, as well as many "unofficial" tours of the cities and local sites by our extremely knowledgeable guide, Donato. Some of the many tours that we enjoyed:
The CarsThe number and size of the cars we encountered were so different that we are used to in the U.S.! From the first wild taxi ride to the hotel, dodging both cars and scooters, to the cars driving and parking on the same narrow streets on which we were walking, they never ceased to fascinate. We particularly enjoyed the random sighting of a Ferrari or classic Fiat parked on a side street. As far as cars go in Italy, small is better!

The Food and WineOh my, where to I start. Everything we had was so delicious, and the culture surrounding food, wine and espresso was so much fun to experience. Group lunches and dinners were a great way to get to know our fellow tour members and share stories about the day. Our guide did an excellent job of finding restaurants that were not only amazing for the good food, but showcased the local specialties. We have both decided it would be worth a trip back to Italy for nothing more than to experience some of our favorite places just one more time.
The Sunsets and Light
The amazing light in the cities and villages made the already awe inspiring views even more special. From sunrise to sunset, to the towns at night, it was always a special sight.
